My love of photography started when I borrowed a Minolta film camera to take on an African Safari. I then moved to Europe to work on the other side of the camera as a model where I picked up technique on the job, mentored by the professional photographers who employed me all over the world. Returning to the states, I studied filmmaking at UCLA with some highly acclaimed directors. Editing film confirmed my love of viewing life as a series of still frames, causing me to return to my original passion of still photography.
After a career spanning the range of visual media—as a filmmaker, camera assistant, casting session director, and headshot/portrait photographer, I have returned my focus to my fine art photography career and now offer my images for you to enjoy.
My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.
I mainly work in color as I like to capture vibrant images from the world around me. I process the vast majority of my photos in Adobe Lightroom and, with the exception of my colorized smoke series, I do not use Photoshop. Although my images are very colorful, I rarely make any adjustments to the saturation, preferring to render the image as seen at the time. On occasion I employ High Dynamic Range photographic techniques for a more surreal look. Where this is the case, I stated this in the photo description. I like the way my photos look when printed on HD Aluminum (MetalPrints). These prints sizzle with vibrant colors that wow the senses, showing off the intense colors I works so meticulously to capture.
On occasion, I’ll employ more subtle colors and tones to establish a mood or tell a story in a more nuanced way. Of course, you are free to pick what ever medium you like. For prints on paper you can add any of the framing options I offer to complete the look.
I am inspired by all things visual, whether it be in nature or man made. In order to put my own stamp on things, I try to look for elements in a scene that other people miss or simply don't look for. Sometimes it is a less obvious element or an anomaly in the scene and sometimes it's a matter of finding a unique prospective on the subject matter. One of my favorite things to do is to find a way to shoot an often photographed scene in a way that hasn't been done before.
